Does anyone know who can refinish the aluminum buttplate, floor plate and trigger guard on a pre-64 model 70 featherweight?
Thanks

I just polished mine bright. Of course you could leave them outdoors for 100 years and get a nice white oxididized surface.

I should have been more specific. Does anyone know who can anodize aluminum to look like Winchester did?

Mark wasn't jerkin your chain. This came up a while back with no reasonable solution. Some use black paint I've heard.

Kidding aside, Brownell's in my 2006-7 catalog offers a couple of products for blacking aluminum. One of them is a paint of some kind, the other is for touching up black anodizing, don't know how it works or what it is.

I called my Winchester Model 70 guru and he said that he was shown a redone featherweight bottom metal at the Vegas show by Bob Cantonwine. He was told who did the work but forget the name. He thinks that Bob is in San Diego in the winter.

Shawn, Google "anodizing aluminum". Lots of sources or you can do it yourself. Bob

If you are trying to "black" the checkered portion try India ink. Allow it to dry and lightly buff the raised portion or let it wear off over time.

A black "Sharpie" permanent marker will do the job and last awhile, ....works on H&H triggerguards!

Black epoxy paint (spray can) will work. It usually goes on without any runs. Let it dry and follow the directions for cure time (usually 30 days). Leaves a hard durable gloss finish. Cheers.
