Has anyone encountered this oddity or am I looking at a restock? Cody letter states stock dims. but no note of checkered bt forearm and No checkering present on stock. Three digit (31-32) vintage dbl trigger, extractor, 28" barrels.
Finish appears original but the lack of checkering seems odd.
I have not removed stock from receiver. If/when its disassembled will the S/N be present on a factory piece?

S/N should be under the trigger guard on buttstock and between the bbl. channels on the forearm

I have owned several 21's and looked at hundreds over they years. None without checkering, but never say never on a 21. I would have expected a san checkering job to be listed on the letter. Most likely a old sand and refinish stock or a replacement stock. My early 21 was a very plain stocked gun, two triggers also but it did standard checkering.

Be careful of how much you pay. A new stock, or even an ebay stock, will be expensive.
