I'll be spending the last week of March in Galveston, TX. Anyone have any suggestions on gunshops in the Houston - Galvestons area worth visiting? Of course, I am most interested in used SxSs, but any decent gun shop is worth alooksee, IMHO.

Herschel Chadick's place at 606 Ninth Street, Terrell, Texas is a "must see" if you've never been there. It is located just off Interstate 20 and just East of Dallas & Fort Worth. His phone number is (972) 563-7577. He specializes in Parker, L.C. Smith, Fox, Model 21's & Ithaca SxSs. Also fine English & European Shotguns & Rifles. ENJOY!

Best Regards, George

you might want to check the map. Dallas to Galveston is a 5 hour drive for most people.
Houston, however, is a hour away. Quality Arms, Collector's Firearms come to mind. There's another big gun store south of Westheimer on Hwy 6 ( west side of Houston, s of I-10), but the name escapes me.
in that same area is (was? i haven't been there in 8 years) American Shooting Center, with plenty of rifle/handgun, skeet/sporting clay ranges.

Tom - Stupid me. Yes, I meant Houston not Dallas. Thanks for alerting me to my error. I've change my original post accordingly. And, thanks for your suggestions on gun shops and ranges.

George L. - Thanks for the recommendation on Chaddicks. I have heard about that store and how good it is.

Be sure and go by Collectors Firearms on Richmond and Fondren.
Fountain Firearms has lots of stuff and it is on Hwy 6 between
I10 and 59 near Bissonnet.

Check Larry Feland's website. I haven't been there in a few years, but he has had some nice guns. Cypress is just West of Houston on HWY 290.

I wonder what life is like at Collector's after they were caught up in the Mexican gun sting a few weeks ago?

You couldn't pay me to visit Chadwick's, regardless of where he's hanging his shingle.
