Rob:
I'll see if I can find that pic from Nov. 2009, I think??
But the longarm in question has the "D" stamp in the same position as see on many of the Sauer examples, so some "D" was performing the same task for other craftsmen. Probably made between WWI, The Great War before WWII, 1923. But the "HK" doesn't look to overlap as Heinrich Krieghoff's and looks to be more centered. Circa WWI is a very difficult time to attach names to initials as many of the older craftsmen were winding up while younger craftsmen who survived WWII with the same initials were beginning. Sure the Kelber's were all about tubes but there wasn't a Kelber with the first initial "H". And the Klett's played a large role in gunmaking in Suhl such as August Heinrich Klett who also owned Johan Stephan Klett & Söhne at the turn of the 20th century but seems to have faded into history by 1911. There was Hugo Kirchner of Suhl who was a barrel specialist at least by the 1930s. And I'm sure there were more.
Kind Regards,
Raimey
