I just bought a 28g sst, no trigger problems after a couple hundred rounds. The safety just all of a sudden developed a sticky crunchy feel. I'm going to have the gun worked on for the barrel fitting and I think I'll have it disassembled for a clean and lube at that time.

I had a 12Ga and put a few thousand rounds through it. No problems with the trigger but it went back twice because of ejector problems. I liked the gun but Quail 1&2 had limited use for me so I sold it.

I had a 28 gauge single trigger that wouldn't reset to shoot the second barrel. I had the action cleaned and then it worked fine. Same experience with an SKB 28 gauge SxS 400.
Best,
Mike

BTW Mike, If your student doesn't come back from down under, I can backfill as your new student. As a bonus, my well diciplined dog can teach your mutts to flush.

I've owned several, both SST and DT. Had a doubling problem with a 28ga SST, which was really a shame, because I liked the gun a lot. Only happened if I fired the R barrel first, at least initially. Then started doing it even if I fired the L barrel first. Sent it off to be worked on, functioned OK for a couple rounds of skeet after I got it back. Beyond that, don't know because I traded it--due to a couple other issues, not the fault of the gun but rather of poor gunsmithing by an individual who's usually pretty highly regarded here. (Those issues not trigger related.) I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, but I'd wait for one with DT--which I like better anyway.
If you look on p.3 of the Ithaca Classic Doubles thread, you'll find someone who had what sounds like a pretty serious issue with a Repro SST.

I had a 28 ga SST gun that doubled once or twice during each round of skeet. After several such rounds over several days, I decided to shoot a round with the selector set to shoot the left barrel first. The gun did not double during that round and, when going back to using the right barrel first, it never doubled again after that.

That particular thread precipitated this thread Larry...makes one contemplate the thought that perhaps one of the gunsmiths that worked on his SST actually "fixated" the problem---rather than "fixing" the problem.
