What then was done? Names and contact info of those gunsmiths that were successful at fixing them would be most beneficial and appreciated by others with similar problems--wouldn't you think?



The problem was doubling. I would not particularly recommend the shop I used. Took a long time and was pretty pricey. I don't have any problems recommending smiths when I think they do good work, reasonably promptly (understanding that getting work done on doubleguns is going to take some time), and the price seems fair.
