Here on a raft jutting into the North Atlantic, we're experiencing the best spring in memory. There are parts of the Eastern Shore that haven't had snow since last April. Looking at the open harbour from where I write this, I see thousands of mergansers, bluebills and whistlers---and the geese are back. A tidal backwater at the other end of the property has hundreds of blacks. Standing among sprouting crocus and daffodils the other day, Nancy said, "It's kind of scary, isn't it?" Ordinarily March is mean.

Santa Fe, NM has had one of the snowiest winters I can remember in 35 years. 17 major storms so far, three in the last week alone. 14 feet of snow on the ground at our ski area, enough so they are going to stay open late this season. I couldn't make it to the Rocky Mountain Vintager's event this weekend, the Interstate was closed. Ultimately however, we can always use the moisture.

The only constant in life is change.

Weatherwimps! Lots of snow here is good news as the shallow ponds are full and we should be sending lots of ducks down the Central flyway in October.

Mike, send some of that snow down here; we have had a good rain year (!Mil gracias al Nino Jesus!) but SouCal really never has enough water and the Sierra is still in a deficit snow situation (Why should Ma Nature be any more fiscally responsible than her Kalifornia Kids?).

With us in Croatia coast, past months is the most rain and moisture in the past few decades, as part of the mainland is much snow. Daytime temperatures around 14-18 degrees Celsius. Lots of bad weather,.. but beautiful days come slowly, and feel the spring. wink
