Just read "Selecting and Ordering a Custom Hunting Rifle", which is full of good tips. But at page 66 Phil Shoemaker, who should know better, mentions the "revered custom rifles" by, among others, "Griffen and Howe". Since 1922, when the firm was founded, it has been "Griffin", not Griffen or Griffon or Grifin, sll of which I have seen used. Charlie Sisk, the editor, knows how to build modern custom rifles but did not catch this error. I also get annoyed at seeing "Kraig" and "Craig" for Krag, and "Whelan" and "Whelin" for Col. Whelen.
