One of our members here sent me some pictures of an unusual shotgun acquired with some Hunter Arms Co. materials --

Can anyone come up with some A.P. Curtis Patent Numbers to go with these dates?

I'm on "The island terrific in the North Pacific" and far from my research materials!!

No. I'm on Kodiak.

Thanks Raimey! That Patent No. 1,160,581 certainly seems to fill the bill. Wonder what the dates on the gun mean then?

Those other patents are for his forearm that Hunter Arms Co. used from 1913 to 1919 on their extractor L.C. Smiths, and his improved bolting for the Flues Model Ithaca SBT.

Dave, the gun you pictured and the gun in the lock patent drawing and the forend fastener drawing sure look like they started out as Baker doubles. I would think that the cocking system shown would require a lot of metal to be removed from the frame, and like the Tobin design, lead to off-face actions pretty quickly.

I can't get the 1915 link to load. It comes up a blank screen. Is it for the overhead safety sear? I wonder if Curtis had a patent for his try gun mechanism?

The patent drawing looks like a LEFEVER to me

Here are some of the barrel pictures. Appears old A.P. just used a set of Fulton barrels --

I have just acquired a Belguim A & F 20 gauge over, under, in a leather case with Francotte name. The gun could be over 50 years old. How can I tell if it is Francotte and the year made? There are several numbers (V19025). Thanks in advance for any help. david@leenandosullivan.com
