Inherited this sweet thing from my wife's grandfather. It is in very good condition EXCEPT for the fore end which has gone missing. Can you-all send me someplace to start looking. I know it is a long shot and I have been bumbling around the web for a few days. HELP ! ! !

You may struggle to find the exact correct forend for this gun as Scott tended to use their own forend catch or one of its variants. They certainly exist but are usually attached to a gun! Furthermore, the catch, which is similar is design to a Deeley catch, is located at the end of the forend rather than the middle like a Deeley so the loop will be further along the barrels that one for either an Anson or Deeley forend. To use either one of the more common catches, you might have to relay the ribs to position the loop closer to the action. Don't want to rain on your parade but you have yourself a challenge!

Bill, I recently made an inquiry asking who may be the maker of a fore end for a side by side that I have. It's for a wedge type attachment to the barrel and has serial number 1599. If you would like to browse that thread, here is the link: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...true#Post182717Good luck in your search. Jolly

Around that time they were using their own 1873 patent forend fastener on some guns. These guns were not machine made and it will require a skilled craftsman to make a new forend. It maight be possible to get an older forend of the right type if you are very, very lucky but it would still require q lot of work to get it to fit. All I can say is good luck. Lagopus.....

Bill, have a barrel and fore end from and early W.C.Scott hammer gun, send me and Email, and I will send you some pics so you can see if they match up.

Hi craig,
E-mail is modelgolfer@prodigy.net. Thanks for pitching in. This is the first BBS that I have ever been involved with and I am really excited with the response.
I have a really good gunsmith working with me on her so maybe we will get her "all dolled up."
thanks again.
Bill
