I use Murphy's Oil soap and a soft tooth brush. I actually usually clean all the wood on a gun when I get it with this.

Dave, do you cut the MOS with some water, or use full strength?

I use Murphy Oil Soap and my wife's tooth brush. Be sure to rinse out the tooth brush well when done. I will never make that mistake again.

I use household ammonia and scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse with water. Ammonia will turn oils and fats into a soap (saponification) which is water soluble. Dry with paper towels. This has been easy on the stock finishes I have used it on.

This sounds good to me. I use Howard Feed and Wax - a really thin wax mix that with a little toothbrush help cleans and waxes checkering in a very nice way. Also pretty nice for the rest of the stock too for that matter but Johnsons paste wax is the hot setup for the stocks and metal if you have the time.

I use Goo Gone and a toothbrush. If that doesn't work I use Goof Off. Goof Off will remove finish but a little thinned stock finish will restore the shine. The key is to work quickly and not leave it on too long. I use a small compressor and an air gun to aid in the cleaning.
