Thought for a second that was a soapbox. See now it's a crypt. That airplane is an Agitprop, right? Let's finish up here guys, lest we forget to remember what Red says we should.

Theres always a couple of guys who cant remember whatthe topic is, and have to impress us with their politics.Shame on you. Memorial day, which we celebrated at our local cemetary, was most noticeable by the attendance of my neighbors son. Lcpl. James Smith, who left one and one half legs in Falugah. He never mentioned a political part. Just said he was proud to have served...SEMPER FI!

And we will have to continue to fight terrorism and unfortunately end up with very sad Memorial Day scenes like the one above. The alternative is to surrender the Middle East to the terrorists. In this day and age politics and war are inseparable and I suspect that an argument could be made that this has always been the case.
IF GWB had skipped the Memorial Day service at Arlington the "mainstream" new media would have been all over his case.
IMO: It's too bad we still don't have an "oilman" in the oval office since perhaps he'd have a clue as to how to deal with the oil spill.

I don't support BO in the least for not being at Arlington but I believe GWB was missing for at least one Memorial Day remembrance there.

Marcus:
You are correct. In 2002 GWB attended a memorial service at the site of the D Day landings in Normandy instead.

Well said !!!

there are many vets that are not happy with BO's swap a vacation for visit to Arlington.

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=37261

"At a time when President Obama’s relationship with the military is already on shaky ground, his decision to take a vacation with his family in Chicago rather than pay his Memorial Day respects at Arlington National Cemetery further proves his apathy toward our armed forces, according to some veterans.

“The President seems to demonstrate almost weekly just how, at least to me, little he cares about this country and our history and our heritage,” retired Marine Lt. Col. Orson Swindle told HUMAN EVENTS.

“He seems almost to resent it, which is the most mind-boggling thing in the world, because without a country like America Barack Obama could not be President. He seems to dislike our institutions… and that’s a sad, sad thing,” said Swindle, a decorated Vietnam prisoner of war and Sen. John McCain’s cellmate in Hanoi."

And to Last Dollar,

ALL vets deserve their opinion, politics included and thanks for keeping us safe one and ALL.
No need for your "hall monitor" "shame on you".More then enough clowns on here want to be in charge of posts of others, chill !

In keeping with our recognition of Memorial Day and especially for those who served in The Weeds in the 60's & 70's I would like to bring up the name of a friend of mine, Johnny Mayo, who served as a dogman with the 173rd Airborne and who has written a book about the Scout Dog Handlers and their canine buddies who served in 'Nam and who saved a lot of soldiers and marines lives. I spent time with Johnny, who lives close by in West Columbia, SC, a couple weeks ago and we reminisced a little about those days and about those loyal canine soldiers that were, for the most part, left behind. Anyway, lets not forget them on Memorial Day.
Google the name Johnny Mayo and order a copy of "Buck's Heroes" & ask Johnny to sign it for you. You'll be glad you did.

Best Regards, George
