they were totally different guns than the box lock BSS. And as soon as I find a 20 gauge with 28" barrels at a fair price, I'm going to try to buy it. Probably never going to happen.

I made a big mistake when I didn't buy one when they first came out. I should have borrowed the money!

What's a fair price these days? I was offered on about 5 years ago for $5K can't remember if it was 26 or 28"

Back in the day, folks struggled for a decent single trigger conversion. My, my, how times have changed. But, image is everything and I am forced to conclude that even stupid image qualifies.
Double triggers on a Citori - Good Lord!! What abomination next?!?!?

What's a fair price these days? I was offered on about 5 years ago for $5K can't remember if it was 26 or 28" There seem to be more than a few available at asking prices $5K and above in 20 gauge, but they are always 26" and never seem to sell. So, what's fair? Hard to tell because all the market can tell us is that it's below $5K. Saw one recently, nice gun in great condition, 20 ga with 26" barrels for high $3's (maybe $3800). That one was not moving quickly either. Same holds for BSS boxlocks in Grade II; sellers asking outrageous prices and nothing is selling. When you get right down to it, there are a lot of Grade I BSS boxlocks on the market at what would have been an OK price two years ago, and they are not moving, either. If sellers are serious, they need to drop prices or be willing to sit on the gun until the market catches with their idea of "fair."

I doubt it will happen either, although the market does appear to have softened somewhat on those guns. The Sidelocks, the Grade II's, and even the Sporters (talking 20ga in all cases) experienced some pretty rapid inflation a few years back.

Given the ten-million round reliability of the SST in the Citoris, a double trigger sure wouldn't be a necessity, but if you want to pick barrels by picking triggers, why not? Gun is the design successor to the Superposed, Both the "twin-single" and a simple double trigger were available on early Supers while Val Browning debugged his SST design. Putting a 600$ trigger conversion in a 1200$ gun would have to be more than a matter of "style" for me!

Here is a nice BSS 20ga on Gunbroker for $1245... and its still not selling. I would make an offer. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=172002749 And here's a nice BSS sporter 20ga for $1495. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=172335484 The standard is modeled after the Anson & Deeley Boxlock.... totally different than the BSS sidelock which is modeled after the Holland & Holland sidelock. The only similarities between them is the fact that they are both sxs and built by Miroku. Adam

i don't find that surprising. the top piece has single non-selective trigger. i can find lt wt citori 20br with choke tubes and sst in excellent condition for $1000 to $1200. the citori is better handling and with inv. system more versatile gun.

Ten million round reliability on a Citori st? Really? That surprises me. I have seen a lot of people have fail to fire issues with Citoris, so I can see why someone would consider a dt conversion.
I'm curious why the Miroku dt guns aren't held in high regard. Aren't they the same group that makes Citoris? Hard to believe the quality wouldn't be similar to the bss, and you get dt's to boot.
