You have to remember that all European dogs were at one time required to hunts fur and feathers. Hence a lot of them were bred with hounds and were ground scenters.

Just my opinion, but English pointers should have the high head and tail, setter's tail straight out, like in the old pictures of them. Field trialers ruined that.
