I know many of you will view this as heresy, but over my more than 50 years of collecting, I've owned many G&Hs, Hoffman Arms, Sedgleys and Niedners, but I am convinced that there are custom rifles being produced right now that are the equal of those fine arms. Do any of you agree?

...and maybe better. I think some degree of technology and skill development has enhanced the quality of today's custom gunmakers. Engraving has definitely improved over the years.
Having said today's craftsmen maybe equal or better, there remains excellent collector value and beauty in the old time master craftsmen!
Room for both. Today's craftsmen are tomorrows golden age!
Jim

It is truly the Golden Age for virtually all types of firearms.
The peak of interest, craftsmanship, creativity, research, stuff to research, photos, engraving... in all catagories.
At one time I thought I was born in the wrong century, but no longer!!! I wholeheartedly agree with your statement! Best, Steve

I agree as well, there are so many fine workmen these days it's hard to keep track of them all.
There is a great amount of really fine firearms being made today. Being stuck in the past I can only participate as a spectator.

You're stuck in the past? That doesn't leave me out, does it? Monte?

It was your book that really got me thinking about this Steven.

"Being stuck in the past I can only participate as a spectator."
Let me add to that, any gun funds I get go to the older rifles. If money was no object I would use "Black & White" as a catalog.
