Hello Parker People:
does anyone know how many Parker 12Ga guns were built on the 1/2 frame - the one Parker made between the 0 of the 20 and the 1 of a 16 Ga? I know they are very unusual but am curious if anyone knows how may built -- and in what grades??
Thanks in advance for any information you guys can provide.

They were a product of the Remington era and the stock books, which mentioned frame sizes, end before the end of production. The exact number of 1/2 frame guns is unknown. Even research on stock books of the known 1/2 frame era has not been done. PGCA has denied access to the Parker records to respected researchers but that may change in the future depending on whom is serving on the board of directors.

Don't have a clue. Maybe you could address your question to the PGCA BOD. I would be very interested in the reason they give to an outsider. They may actually tell you the truth.

How dare you, sir, question the decisions made by the PGCA Board of Directors! Without those gentlemen there would be no Parker shotgun. Everybody knows that.
But really, the 1/2 frame 12, even more than the 0 frame 16, is a pig in a poke. It's no lighter or any more lively than a 1 frame so what's all the fuss about?

Now Greg, I have a Parker VH 16 on O Frame that weighs 5lbs-13oz with 28" barrels and is the very definition of lively. I recently sold a 16 DHE O Frame with 28" barrels that weighed 6lbs 2oz. I concede that these were on the lighter end of the 16 O frame spectrum. Best, Mike

I also have a VH 16 on the 0 frame with 28" barrels and it is sweet. There is a noticeable difference between the 0 and 1 frame 16's.

In that we know of 8 pound 32-inch Trap Guns built on the 1/2 frame, is it not most likely that Remington came up with this frame size to continue building 12-gauge guns out of the remaining parts forgings they had on hand?

I think that M. MacIntosh is the one that concluded that the 1/2 frame Parkers were produced in the low hundreds. Why Remington introduced this new frame size is unknown to me. Mine Parker 12 Ga VHE 1/2 frame tips 7 lb. even (28" barrels, PG). It is notoriously butt heavy. Barrels´ weight is 3lb 1oz according to the stamping in the flats. My guess is that furnished with a straight grip and lighter wood would go to 6.5 pounds or less while balancing on the hinge.

Well, the 0 frame 16 is less of a pig in a poke than the 1/2 frame guns, as I noted. But still, guys act like a #1 frame is an appalling mess and a 0 frame is the cat's meow. The difference is there but it's hardly that significant.
