King, I was just pokin' fun at NASA's miscalculation on the Mars Surveyor. In 1998 they crashed directly into Mars (10 ringed it) with a vehicle intended to orbit. The miscalculation had to do with thrust data in english units and navigation software in metric units, both from separate contractors. Shortly after this failure, the second half of the exploration project was to be a Mars lander which crashed into the surface during the landing phase. NASA was looking really bad after these failures and the shuttle launch disaster a little over 10 yrs prior.
