USPS is the way to go. I insure but have had no occasion to collect on damage or loss. My more or less nondeformable mailing tube with wood end plugs has been back and forth to Orlen so many times I'm sure he and I are both tired of peeling off tape and old mailing labels. Sending the entire gun when only barrel mods are required (I guess we can't all afford to engage someone from the "shoot-it-in" school of choking?)would require the receiver's FFL. I did collect (1800$) from UPS for damage to a carbon fiber bike frame. Took some effort (UPS appraiser's examination of item and packaging, seller's shipper waiving claim to funds) and amounted to a four-sided Charley Foxtrot which went on for three months.
