A couple of years ago the owner of this Baker posted a picture of the blown barrel. I was fortunate and was able to purchase the Action and forestock after the occurance. However,I am embarressed that I have lost the names of whom I corresponded due to a new computer and lost e mail addresses. After much frustration, I have found,"browned-blackened" the new barrels and have nearly fit them to the action. Thanks to the guys that helped me find and put all of this back together. Congratulations from another savior of ruined double guns. Tell us how you came upon the new barrels, whether they are fluid steel or composite, and how many types of Baker barrels you have to choose from to get a set to fit your gun.

Stallones:
On the original burst it looks like a 16 ga B & P remnant in the chamber....is it a 16 ga gun....2.5" original chamber or was it a re-cut chamber and cone.....?.........sure looks like the failure started where the forcing cone cuts are and then progressed fore and aft....?........Thanks for any information........
You did a nice job locating and refitting the barrels, congratulations.......well done.........

The original barrels had the chambers reamed for some reason. That is what caused them to burst.
Nice restoration. Please tell us more. Do you sill have the burst barrels?

The new barrels are the Baker Damascus-Twist, they called them, kinda a mixture of twist and laminated. Fortunately the barrels are a close fit and not much fitting although about 8000 serial numbers apart. 12 ga and looking forward to shooting it as soon as some more tweaking is done.

Were you able to find lugged barrels like on a graded gun? You have to love those composite barrels. They are not as boaring as fluid steel.

No, they are not lugged barrels. I waa hoping to find one but no luck. These will work fine once I get a few more fine tunings done.

No problem. I have what was either an "A" or "B" grade that it's original barrels were no longer with the gun. There has been some fluid non-lugged baker barrels fitted to the gun and they work great. The person who fitted them, made the original ser. no. of the barrels disappear and added the ser. no. of the gun(6111) to them. Though the barrels are rather boring, not having the beauty of composite barrels ;), but they fit and work great.

Wasn't this gun owned by RMC and that is when the shooting damage took place?
