I have wondered about these ever since I got my old watch back.
I am not keen on taking the innards out of old german boxlocks as at least half the screws(and there's a few)always seem to be locked in place.
Instead I pop the assembled action into spirits overnight,then kerosene followed by the airhose,spraylube , air again,and reassemble.
This seems to get 95% of the gunk out.
But I have often thought of dropping the whole thing into an ultrasonic cleaner.

I remember back in the 60s when I was in the Navy and we use to use one in our shop to clean electronic parts. They worked good then.

And Greg, be really careful about blowing off gun parts with an air hose. The Ljutic trap guns have a tiny pin about 3/8" long and 1/8" around that is used in the ejector that costs about $25.00. My buddy was blowing one off with an air hose and it shot across his garage and it took him forever to find it. I had to laugh when he told me about it, but I guess it wasn't too funny to him at the time. Lighter fluid is a good cleaner for guns and watch parts, too. Good luck.

I thought I might get away with fixing this one but a little more diagnostic work has determined that it's the main circuit board itself that's blowing the fuses, shorting out somewhere. New Board is over $200. Pity, it's a high end machine with heat.

Back to boiling in TSP and wire brushing.
