I don’t agree that lop is the least important measurement, it is but one measurement. Once you are ‘relatively’ close to your required LOP, I agree that small adjustments can be made with your gripping hand. However, I need a 15.5-inch lop, anything shorter than a 15-inch stock, I have my thumb up my nose no matter where I place my gripping hand – so lop is important.

Several months ago I bought a Woodward 20 bore O/U that had a stock with a leather covered pad that added up being too short for me. Rather than adding a spacer, I elected to have a wooden extension to get my longer LOP. It should arrive from England in the next few weeks – I am anxious to see it!!
