Depending on the other dimensions I need a LOP of 15 - 15.5" and I've always used spacers and recoil pads to get my LOP because none of my guns are valuable enough to use more expensive techniques.

On my 1866 Joseph Lang I needed to add 1.5" inches so I used a 1.5" Silvers pad and a .25" spacer.

On my 1887-1894 J&W Tolley I needed to add 1.25" inches so I used a 1" black Pachmayr Decelerator and a .5" spacer.

On my 1926 Fox Sterlingworth I needed to add 1" so I used a 1" black Pachmayr Decelerator and a .25" spacer.

To me all look fine. Most importantly they now fit me and at a cost that I can afford. None of these guns are "collector quality" - if they were I would probably use spacers and recoil pad to get my LOP and have it leather covered.
