If by "Seal hunting" you're referring to the images we've all seen of helpless seal pups being clubbed to death for their pelts I guess I'd have to admit this turns just about anyones stomach including mine.
If your talking about some other type of seal hunting and it's for adults and it's necessary for population control that's a different matter. Most of us here understand the need for unchecked growth due to the Whitetail deer problems we have in many areas in the United States.

It seems like once again, rather than stay on the subject of anti lead shot, we are going to discuss science and seals. Instead of wasting your time on those, as King says, they have nothing to do with the politics, write or call everyone that may have some influence on the issues....Few of you will do that...

Culls of adult seals, Jim. The commercial hunting of harp seal pups under 2-3 weeks, known as whitecoats, has been illegal since 1987.

An "incontrovertible fact"?!?!?

Tell that to the CDC.

Nov. 6, 2008

"A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study on human lead levels of hunters in North Dakota has confirmed what hunters throughout the world have known for hundreds of years, that consuming game harvested with traditional ammunition poses absolutely no health risk to people, including children, and that the call to ban lead ammunition was and remains a scare tactic being pushed by anti-hunting groups to forward their political agenda.

Today, additional information became available about the CDC study, originally released yesterday, that is important to disseminate to hunters, their families and the general public about the total and complete lack of any evidence of a human health risk from consuming game harvested using traditional ammunition. For instance, in the study the average lead level of the hunters tested was lower than that of the average American."

To be completely "fair and balanced", that ND study does recommend that children not eat a lot of game shot with lead. (That's because lead tends to accumulate in the body over time.) Because lead does accumulate, one of the really interesting facts from the ND study is that most of those sampled were older, which could have resulted in higher than average lead levels. Instead, the levels were lower than the national average. The average lead level of those who reported eating game, however, was somewhat higher than those who did not--but still below the nationwide average, and far below the CDC's "level of concern".

The most serious environmental danger contaminating the American landscape is prolonged exposure to toxic levels to Liberal drivel.

As for animals ingesting lead from shot game; try this little experiment. Drop one number 6 lead shot pellet in you dog's dinner dish among the food and I bet that ten to one it will be left rolling around the bottom of a cleanly licked bowl. How they do it I don't know. I've found this if I have ever fed them any shot rabbits. Always if there are any shot present they are left behind. Lagopus.....

The libs can twist the "facts" about lead ingestion any way they want but how about all the kids that will have to make emergency trips to the dentist after biting down on a piece of steel shot? cry
