If that guy described my first wife, I might be tempted to marry her again. Talk about snake oil salesman. This is an old listing. Saw it a few years ago and wee all had a laugh then. Crap last forever on the internet.

Agreed- A Purdey is a James purdey London made Best Grade sidelock shotgun- A Purdy is a brand of paintbrushes- A Purty Gal is from the Hee-Haw show of yesterdays--

Baker went out of business in 1912- in 1917 our American gun companies were involved in the WW1 armament race- and this butt ugly Baker with all the wood "Unproud" of the metal, crappy engraving(?) is a joke- and this numbnut in GA gets a 44/44 positive rating on the Gun Busters website tote board- why? Who in their right mind would pay more than $350 for that POS Baker?

MR.LOCKE IN 1957 MUST HAVE JUST LEFT P.T. BARNUMS EMPLOY, AND ASKING 4000 IN 1957?
USING THE FEDERAL RESERVE CALCULATOR, THE 4000 IS WORTH 30,500 TODAY. MAYBE WE SHOULD INFORM THE JOKESTER THAT HE IS TOO LOW ON THE OFFER

There have been several of these low end guns that were supposedly "custom" one of only a handful made kind of deals that included letters from this William Locke guy floating around the past couple of years. There was a guy posting on the LC Smith BBS about one and I think another turned up on here.

William Locke was a big time Colt collector of 35-50 years ago. I believe he was a lawyer out of Arizona. His collection had its own catalog when he passed and it went on the block. Lots of 6 digit guns,at todays prices, in that one.I think someone thought using the name of a well known, but deceased, collector might be a clever ploy to sell a so-so gun.
