I was in a Cracker Barrel resturant today. I joked to my buddy that I was going to check the shotgun over the fireplace. I remarked that one day I would find a Purdey. Normally it is a JBEC or Stevens. It was a Parker I belive a GH Certainly a higher than V grade.

Not in the best of shape, but a Parker. Whaddaya know. Just thought ya'll would like to know.

Anybody else found anything similar?

Best, Dick Jones

Well if this were me I'd have a chat with the manager. I'd tell him my grandpappy had one just like it and for sentimental reasons I'd be willing to swap a nicer looking gun, read Belgium clunker here, with him for it!

I always check out the "wall-hangers" where ever I am. You just never know if a missing Invincible will show in a Cracker Barrel or country store.

Makes me sick to think that there is a Parker screwed to the wall of a Cracker Barrel. Parkers deserve a much more dignified disposition.

I saw an Ithica double in a Cracker Barrel in Iowa or Illinois. Mostly they are clunkers. I have seen a few single barrel ones as well.

The gun police closed our Cracker Barrel restaurant for illegal gun possession....I think.

There's a fairly nice 1884 Trapdoor at the CB in Fredericksburg, Va.

Hey Chuck,

Billy and I arrived at SHOT Show today. I guess you aren't going to make this one?

Does CB drill through a 3/8 inch hole through both barrels and the stock to mount it to the wall with 1/4 inch lag bolts? Where is the Parker CB?

At Underwood's Barbecue in Brownwood Texas, in the main dining room, is a Whitney- Kennedy Lever action in a large caliber- likely 45-60 or .45-75. It is bolted to the wall - happily by metal straps. I couldnt get the serial number or fully examine it because it is, well, bolted to the wall, but it appears to be in pretty good shape. Next to it is a Model 1884 Trapdoor, as well as another Trapdoor rifle that has been cut down to a carbine configuration. In the "Winchester Room" at Underwood's is a Winchester Model 1886 rifle and a Model 1873. There are numerous others as well.

These are not de-wats and have no holes drilled in them.

Makes lunch more interesting - something to look at while you are awaiting arrival of another basket of their famous home-made hot rolls.

Regards

GKT
