Hey everyone, new here and trying to figure this site out,
I have an Ithica, Baker double , SN# 318....would like to find out if some stamping on the gun is actual.
On the right side of receiver is stamped:ITHICA NY. and it appears that it was double stamped as it looks like the letters overlap, on the left it says the same but it's clear, also on the left side, it is stamped, W.F. & CO., I know some early guns went to Wells Fargo, would just like to verify that this is one .
I believe this gun was made around 1884.
Thanks for any help,

Gee, if it is marked Ithica that is really rare!!! The town and the company name is Ithaca. According to page 271 or Walter Snyder's book, the guns purchased from Ithaca by Wells, Fargo & Co. were NIG models and a few after 1915 of the "two bolt hammer model." Doesn't mention W,F&Co. ever buying any Baker Models

Thanks Researcher, appreciate the response, I was worried that some one stamped the W.F & CO. later in years, The ITHICA.NY though looks identical to the picture in Snyders book on pg. 32 top.

Stickman-Take a look at Walt's book on page 271. Thats one that went to W.F. Is your ser. # only 3 numbers or are you leaving out the last 3 digits? May be a bit of confusion on that spelling of Ithica because it is spelled Ithaca. If in fact it is spelled Ithica it might just be the only one! Is your guns W F & Co stamping followed by a number ? Are the barrels steel or twist ? Ithaca's are interesting!
