As for the spelling of Griffin versus Griffen, that has been a problem like Niedner versus Neidner. In a thread a while back,
Michael Petrov showed an image of a copy of notes from Niedner's workshop in which "Niedner" was spelled "Neidner". It happens.
If I were Jon Speed, which I am not, and if that was the worse mistake I made, I could easily live with it.
