I think the Savage/Valmet 333 "Skeet" I got recently qualifies as a "cheap thrill." (Of course a thrill can't be cheap enough for me....the more cheaper the more thriller!). By the time, I get the wierd "skeet" stock it came with modified to something I can shoot, it will be an expensive thrill, of course. (Wish I'd invested in that sandpaper company back when IT was cheap....)

The Silver Snipe I own came free. One icky problem that I have to overcome follows. When it was new, my Dad cut the stock and had a Pachmayer "White Line" pad fitted (hey, it was the 1960s-we know better, now).
When the pad was soft, we had trouble with the inertia trigger operating with light loads. The years went by, the polymers evaporated from the pad, leaving it hard, and 'viola! The trigger works splendidly, again.
Anyone got a suggestion for a black, semi-hard 'sorta pad in the usual length? It can't be thin, since the gun has a short LOP as it is.
I'm too cheap to pay to have the stock lengthened.

Best,
Ted

Fun thread. My own cheap thrills: Stevens 5100 16ga (marked Springfield), Stevens 5100 20ga (marked Ranger), Stevens 311 20ga, Fox Model B 12ga (not a BSE; older model with DT and splinter), all solid, tight, good shooters and all well under $300. Gotta love 'em!
