I have a Prussian marked Charles Daly serial number 26395 side by side 12 gauge.
I took it apart to clean it and now cannot get the fore grip back on.
Nothing was torn apart other than removing the fore grip and barrels.
I pulled the trigger to clean the firring pins and I am wondering if that is the issue.
Nothing appears broken or jammed.
Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

I'd like to see some pics of it especially of the flats and the area between the flats and the forend lug. Yep, you guessed it tripping the hammers is your issue. Sometimes a little pressure will get it back on but you may have to get it as tight as you can and then breech it to take the pressure off the cocking dogs.

I will post some pictures tonight. Its a family heirloom though so I might just take it to a gunsmith. Any recommendations for a good one in Orange County California?

Is it an ejector gun? If so check to see if the ejectors have tripped. If they have re-cock them and all should be OK. If youy have fired the gun ,it may be that you need to be a little bit harder in pushing the forend back on as you have the main spring pressure against you.Thats about all I can suggest with out seeing it .

A picture of the inside of the forend will give us an idea of how to cock the ejector hammers. With the ejector hammers cocked, you should be able to reassemble the forend to the barrels.

It was exactly as you all advised with the firing pins in the fired position it made it extremely hard pressure to put it back on. With the help of my dad we tried the push hard method and it clicked back on. It was a frightening amount of force to put onto a 100 plus year old gun but as stated it did clip back on with no damage.
A very scary learning experience, thought I had broken my families favorite shotgun.

I hope you put a block of wood or something on the pins to "ease" there travel @ the end...shouldn't just pull the triggers with no stoppage for the pins in an old, or any Gun.
