Hear ye! Hear ye! A new world record was set at the Vintage Cup for high swing effort (MOI). The new champ is a single barrel box lock 4 bore of 1960-70ism Italian manufacture. Said cannon has an 8# 13oz barrel, 1# 5oz forearm, and a 6# 10oz stock and reciever for a nice round total weight of 16# 12oz. The barrel is 47 1/4", LOP is 14 3/4", and balance is 10 7/8" in front of the trigger. The MOI machine took a stately 18.75 seconds for one full rotation, a number off my chart and requiring calculation with the curve formula. The unmounted swing effort (10 X MOI at CG) was --- drum roll --- 7.65 (average game gun is 1.45 and previous champ was a Purdey Jones underlever double 8 bore damascus at 4.9). The mounted swing effort was 31.33, displacing the previous champ's (a new manufacture Westley-Richards double 8 bore) 17.43.
The owner plans to assemble loads and fire the beast. I'm guessing a fairly hit clay will vanish much in the manner of Bilbo Baggins.

Don, I didn't see that four bore single. Was it offered for sale? I think I may need such a gun.

Drew/Geo - that picture is actually of Alan Myers shooting a shoulder 2 bore (not a 4 bore) with a huge black powder load. Alan is a well-known big-bore specialist here in the UK and undertakes commissions for such beasts.

8B, not offered for sale, just shown around for talking --- a purpose which it served well!! I think the owner wants to shoot it some for the experience.
