I have a pre-war Walther SportModell .22 long rifle that I'd like to scope. The receiver and rear third of the barrel are dovetailed and the rifle currently has a rear sight that slides on the dovetail. I'd like to find scope rings with clamp on bases to fit the dovetail, which seems to measure 0.457 inches, using my micrometer.

Can anyone suggest a source for such rings and bases?

Metric dovetails are usually 11mm which is .433".
.457" is 11.61mm, a funny size indeed.

I was going to suggest the Walther section of .22 Rimfire forum but I see you're there already.

Most air rifles use an 11mm dovetail, perhaps trying an airgun forum would give you a lead.

Watch ebay for parker hale mounts. They show up from time to time.

What kind of scope are you wanting to mount? I modified a set of aluminum Unertl mounts for a Haenel with a similar rib on the barrel. I just put them in the mill and used a dovetai cutter to widen out the dovetail in the rings. It took about 30 minutes total. I think similar treatment to various types of mounts / rings would work. I have a set of 1" rings that have a rimfire dovetail. They resemble Talley's and I could donate them to the cause if you want them.
