Prop 109 is more than a constitutional guarantee of the right to hunt and fish (which is a very good thing)
It also takes away Game and Fish's authority to make hunting regulations, and places that authority in the hands of the state legislature (not a good idea)
Do you think that our glorious legislature has done such a bang up job and they have the spare time to put into rationally analyzing hard science and translating it into game and fish rules or will they just vote whichever way the political wind is blowing?
At best our glorious legislature is barely competent on anything, and I have more faith in a dedicated department with a history of protecting and managing wildlife.
A better-written ballot initiative, one that focuses solely on protecting hunting and fishing would get my vote, but not this one.
