I think those RL fans are mostly guys that haven't shot many other 28ga OU's.

I think you're right, Larry. In fact, I think you're very right.
Only one 28 gauge O/U, Indeed!

I think those RL fans are mostly guys that haven't shot many other 28ga OU's. Larry, you might still be slipping. In 28 ga, I have a Red Label/PG/28"; a Miroku MK70/30"; a Beretta 686 Onyx/28". Have used a friend's Merkel and Huglu. Also own an RBL 28ga/30"; an Armas Erbi 27.5" boxlock; a Parker Repro DHE/English grip/DT/28"; and a Win Mod 12 conversion gun. I shoot the Miroku the most because I shoot it best, but the Red Label is the gun I choose to carry if there is a lot of carrying involved, and I shoot it pretty well, too. Moody can be excused because he's a Winchester guy.

I've got a 28 ga Browning overunder in the for sale section right now. I'll bring it back up to the top for you. JW

Have you ever used a Baby Frame Model 101, 28 gauge, Quail Special? Apparently not. Tried to buy one a few years ago, but the deal didn't work out. If you want to ship me yours, I'd be happy to use it for a while and report back here. As I recall, the baby frame 101's in 28 gauge only came with stubby barrels. I really prefer 28" minimum on all my break action guns. Could the 101 Quail Special be had with 28"? By the way, I do have a couple of 101's in 12 and .410, so I am familiar with the guns and like them a lot. There are some issues, though, such as short barrels on the small bores and thin barrel walls at the muzzle on the 12's (mine is SK/SK and I like tighter chokes, but there is not enough meat to fit thinwalls). The other problem I have with all the 12's I have seen is a relatively short LOP and the butt ugly pad that Winchester insisted on. I restocked my 12 with a proper stock from a Nikko (no pad and a hard plate).

No 28" barrels, but then "stubby" barrels are just a "red herring".

You'll find plenty of fans of Repro 28's and RBL 28's out there, and of course there are far fewer of either of those than RL 28's (and they cost a lot more). But you don't EVER want to sell the RL 28ga, to anyone who's shot many other 28's, based on the gun's light weight. It's light compared to RL's in 12 and 20, but it's not light compared to other break action 28's.

I have one of the Rugers with 28 barrels and a straight grip. If I could only figure out a way to change it to double triggers!
