By 1924 Fred Adolph was about at the end of his time in the public view as a gunmaker. It would not be long before he lost both his business and home.
The sporting press would not carry his ads anymore so his only form of advertising was to send out fliers. Adolph regularly solicited testimonials from former customers.
This is a single sheet flier that measures 17 3/4" X 8" when unfolded.

This is one side of the flier with a picture of a 1903 Springfield built for C.E. Sykes. Mr Sykes was one of the men and money behind buying and moving Hoffman Arms Company from Cleveland to Ardmore, OK. This is big ad and I hope you can read it, if not I'll post the two sides.

This is one of the other guns pictured in the flier. It's a little odd because he does not say who it was made for.

When the shotgun surfaced a few years ago it was identified with the help of this flier. The shotgun is in a friends collection. SDH did an article on it and can tell you more about it. The owner might be bird hunting at this time but is a member here.

This last man knew how to write a testimonial. His name is Burns Lyman Smith who was the son of Lyman Cornelius Smith (L.C. Smith) of shotgun fame. B. L. Smith is best remembered today for the Smith building in Seattle.

Is the B.L.Smith rifle the one needing a Heiser gun case?

Is the B.L.Smith rifle the one needing a Heiser gun case? Yes, There is a letter with the rifle dated back in the 60's (I think) that describes the rifle and says it's in a Heiser case. I'll see the letter and the rifle in a couple weeks.
