I knew Mike Pinkus slightly but he's NOT the first firearms/militaria dealer I've known of that's been set up and paid the price.
This is why I don't post on shotgun forums like the Parker Venue where,by using my real name, I might as well put a beacon on my house advertising the fact that I have valuable guns. IMO the posters over there using their real names and addresses are living in a dream world that could be shattered at any time.

Very good point Jim!!
In today's world where identity theft is an ever present threat and in this case danger you can't protect yourself enough.
It's to bad we have to waste precious electricity on those three to kill them where three bullets or a load of buckshot would have sufficed!!

I agree as well. In fact those who post on facebook are at even greater risk. Post where you are, what you are doing and when you will return is a criminals dream come true. Nice to also give him a current picture to stalk you with. If you have kids posting on facebook you better pay attention to what information they are posting.

I think that's a great point as well; that's why I've always posted here using the Movie Star's moniker instead of my real identity...Geo

I read the link above, and didn't see anything that told me that his participation on a gun website led to the crime. Am I missing something?

For those of you living in your own middle/upper class world, where everything but the economy is wonderful, reality can strike at any time. I just finished working with the insurance adjuster inre. to the vandalism done to one of my cars while visiting in California over Thanksgiving. mad

I'm incognito enough by not using my real name so that it would take some effort to find me. An effort I don't think most criminals would bother with since there are other easier pickings. The reason for installing an alarm as security on your house is to make it harder to rob yours than another. The reason for my post above was to point out that virtually no one is safe at this time so be forwarned and stay alert.

Anybody can type your phone number on Google and get your name and a map to your house. Reminds me of an old joke about a guy who was a self-appointed VIP, telling an acquaintance that "everywhere I go, I go incognito. Travelled all over the US, Europe and the Orient. Nobody knew who I was". To which, the bored acquaintance finally asked "who were you"?

Seriously, Jim's points are well taken.
