OK, I'll jump in. I don't think that corkscrew is long enough for wine bottles. Lots of disgruntled people in hunting camp with half a cork left in the bottle neck. The middle item is sort of like the Budd Petmecky , but of course not the same. Neat stuff.

Yes, the cork screw, like this, was just the "church key" of it's day.

Destrine doesn't the first one look like something your gynecologist uses ?

Chris asked the question I would ask. Why would you need a corkscrew to open a whiskey (or whisky) bottle?

Pete,It occurs to me that because Lockyers involvement with steam engines/locomotives,the double ended brush could well have been a tool intended for cleaning out steam boiler tubes! Some enterprising previous owner may have thought;"just the tool for cleaning my shot gun barrels", hence it finding a home in a gun case!

Roy,
I suspect you are correct. That 1st tool looks like it was meant to separate 2 cylindrical surfaces. Possibly two rollers held close by spring tension?
They are interesting.
A question for you. At what point did the British patent system change to not include the year as the preface to the serial number?

Destrine doesn't the first one look like something your gynecologist uses ? I have in fact seen a Gynecologist implement made very similar to the first one "EXCEPT" if you look at it closely the blades are curved the wrong direction. This one it appears would be very painful to a woman.

That's just how HomoJoe likes it, only he uses it in the back door.

P.S. Just to clarify, when I say HomoJoe of course I mean HomoSapien, I would never accuse Joe of homosexuality. And when I say backdoor I'm naturally referring to the backdoor of his outhouse and not his rectum.

Chris, Bring the corkscrew to the Lefever meeting in Las Vegas. We can see if it works.
