Thanks for reinforcing my thoughts. It came home with me for an M1 Carbine($850). The the Sedgley serial # is 246 and I am sure it is a 1933 Winchester Hornet barrel. They were .223".

It has the Lyman 48 and had a Lyman 17 on the front but that is off now and replaced with a proper sight. D&T for Unertl mounts but no other holes. The interior looks just like the one Mike posted pics of but mine is not marked Hornet under the 22WCF. The action is an old one which was #46067 and that # appears on the back of the bolt handle. The rifle started out as a Rod Bayonet rifle and the small letters with serifs are still on it as is the serial #. The Sedgley serial # is under the barrel just in front of the action and also on the stock just behind the recoil lug.

Stock is a little darker than Mike's but seems a bit above average of the Sedgleys I have seen. Can't wait to shoot it but winter around here being what it is might be spring.
