There is a picture of a beautiful SS butt on the W & C Scott thread. I dont have any guns with one of these, but have always loved them. I would love to see some more pictures of various Skeleton Steel Butt plates.

I am afraid mine are all on the back end of Parkers, and Parkers, being modest creatures, especially when compared to that beautiful WC Scott 10 ga Premier, are far too timid to expose themselves in such a way.

They look nice on higher grade guns but in my opinion they are not very practical. Had a Parker repro with one that I used and you always have to be concerned how you rack or lean your gun. I would put mine in a rack with the muzzle down since the rack base was wood. What do you do when you need to leen your gun on something like a tree or fence post and there is rocks or gravel? I have a French double with a checkerd butt and it once slipped out of my hand and hit the concrete. I now have an ugly reminder of just how fragile they are. I saw a mans Parker repro at my club with the SS butt all scratched and the woods checkering flatened. He was not as concerned about the care of his butt as I am with mine. It was a 28ga with a straight stock. On a using gun I'll take a thin rubber butt pad, they got alot going for them. Imagine dropping the beautiful butt above on the rocks or concrete.

Ok Alex, here's my contribution to the cause - Nichols & Lefever C grade. I also think I've seen Mr. Fewless' and Mr. Patton's butt plates before. They weren't as pretty as the now though.
