There were from 10 to 25 BSSs made with double triggers.

There were 714 BSS Sidelock 12ga. guns made, and 451 in 20ga.

I have a 20ga boxlock marked "assembled in Korea of Japanese components" that is SST and dated 1977 by the Browning code.I bought it unfired and it is still unfired 3 years later. Just haven't gotten to it.

The early ones were "Made in Japan" marked. The Korean connection came later.

Don, any figures on the number of Grade II's produced??

You may run across a sidelock that's marked Miroku (but not Browning) that's essentially the same gun as the BSS Sidelock. I've seen two of those, and I have Miroku catalog copy indicating they were being made some 20 years before the BSS Sidelock appeared. Of course there were also Miroku boxlocks, but they show far more differences from the BSS than do the sidelocks. For one thing, most of the Miroku boxlocks we see in this country (most of which are marked Charles Daly) were DT/extractor guns.

Larry, I don't have any information on the number of Grade II's

IMO, other than the wood, the Grade I guns were much nicer looking than the Grade II's.

That's what I don't get. DRDUC has a 1977 gun ( assembled in Korea with Japanese components) Wouldn't that date make it an early gun which should have at least been a ( made in Japan assembled in Korea) model? There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to Brownjng date info or when and by whom the guns were made or assembled. Makes it hard for anyone to pinpoint their gun's birthday

Yes, Don, I agree. The wood on the few 20ga G-2's was pretty nice. The engraving on them, not so much.

I think much depends on whether you like the blued vs coin finished receivers. No doubt much of the attraction of a Grade II is its relative rarity. Don, too bad you don't have numbers. Based on how many I've seen compared to Sidelocks, I've always guessed that there are even fewer Grade II's.

I don't think that is the case.

It'd be good to see numbers on the Grade II's since we know them on the Sidelocks, but I know I've seen more Sidelocks than Grade II's.

Just took a quick look over on Gunsinternational. Couple Grade II's with asking prices north of $5K. Wow.
