I am looking for a gun stocker to take my blank and restock a boxlock .410. Everybody I seem to find on the net has a year+ back log. I also don't want to pay 4000+ for a simple stocking job. Even Wenig's is backed up 12-16 weeks just for rough machining. Can someone help?

Jerry Andrews just completed a 20 gauge 3E for me did great work. Here is his numbers 304-843-1740 or 304-281-5776 . Also has a forum where he can be reached. http://elsiesmith.boardhost.com/index.php

I understand the pricing, but I am providing the blank, and this is not an elaborate job. I could even have the stock "roughed in" if necessary. 1500-2000 seems fair to stock a box lock, but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about... I don't expect it to be done in 2 weeks, but 2 years is out of the question!

Try dutchmanwoodworks.com. Larry charges within the limits you state and does excellent work. Bob Jurewicz

Try Del Whitman, Lake Ann, MI, (231) 275-0140. He can provide you references and examples of his work. But understand that like most really skilled artisans, Del is busy and does not (nor should not) work cheap. Moreover, quality work takes time. Del has done 2 stocks for me and i am very pleased with his work.

+1 for Larry Schuknecht of Dutchman Woodworks. I've used his services for two stocking jobs and have been completely satisfied with his work and turnaround time. Larry is a good egg.

As a stockmaker, let me say that most of wait time you dread is due to the volume of work sent to be completed in a "short" time by others ahead of you in line. If Wenig's is backed up that far, there is a great demand in the market right now. That shop empolyed more than 20 people last time I was I in the building. Good hunting for a craftsman you may work with.

Now we're in the ball park, I have talked to 2 of the above mentioned and seem to be finding what I'm looking for. I don't expect top notch work for pennies but treating someone like a CUSTOMER is always nice. Man there are some moody fellows out there. I am finding that my cost for work will be in the neighborhood of what I expected, and done in a fair amount of time. Thanks to all!!

Prices ranging in the 2000-2500 range. This is far more acceptable, with turn around in the 6-8 month time frame.
