Personally, I think it's terrible the way most gunsmiths treat their customers. I've had multible examples of gunsmiths taking my gun, keeping it over a year and charging me an hour or two.
We need to encourage young folks to get into the business and take the work away from these guys. Taking a small job to pay the bill or not, it's inexcusible behavior.
That being said, I count my blessings on having a stockmaker who does a great job at a very low price with a normal turn around of less than a month. Yes, it's possible. he is good, Cheap, and fast.
