Yesterday, about 3 in the afternoon, I took my 2 Brittany's, Flash and Elbee down the road for a short hunt. We went into a weedy wheat stubble and almost immediately Flash was on point, Elbee honoring. I was shooting a 10 Bore "E" Lefever. I started in and a Rooster flushed. Wind was blowing hard (It's Kansas, toto). First shot, lots of feathers, second shot dead in the air. He fell across the road into a green wheat field and both dogs went after him. I was watching the dogs, Flash got there first, Elbee took the Bird away from him and started back to me. His very FIRST retrieve. A second Rooster flushed behind me, I had the gun open and 2 shells in my hand. I dropped one and managed to get one in the left barrel, closed the gun and killed the 2nd Rooster which fell almost in the same spot the first one had. Flash picked it up...Imagine this: My two bird dogs, each with a rooster, coming to me at the same time! Side by side! Delivered to hand! We quit, came home and had cookies....One of those very special days, for an old guy....It's good to be me....Wish someone could have got a pic...

I bet you wouldn't have sold those two turdhounds for $100,000 each that day!
Great story Chuck, thanks for posting. Ten gauge E Lefever, pointing Brittanys, Roosters, perfect retrieves, man what a perfect couple of minutes.
Mike

I've been stocking up on ten gauge Lefevers for years, looking forward to just such a day.

Great story. Wish I had seen it in person. Pheasant season is long gone here.

When I said "it's good to be me" I meant it. I have been fortunate enough to live in one of the best areas in the Country for Bird hunting. Within 45 minutes of the home place we have Pheasants, quail, chickens, ducks, geese, doves, Whitetail and mule deer. My wonderful neighbors allow me to hunt thousands of acres of ground. I hunt something, pretty much every day, from the 1st of September through the middle of February. Adding to the enjoyment have been many members of this board who have joined me over the years.. Good friends, good guns, good dogs and so far good health...Cant ask for much more than that..Thank you, Lord!

I'm sitting on the back porch watching my two beautiful little girls run with our Lab Samson, giggling and carrying on without a care in the world. Like you found, the best things in life are usually right in our back yard ;-) Thanks for sharing and reminding us how great life is!
Life is too short for cheap guns, cheap women and cheap whiskey.
