Bought a Ithaca NID in 28ga. B.T. forend, single trigger, auto ejectors,26in barrels. Field grade with some figure in the buttstock. Very nice looking gun. Serial number 464892. The muzzle did not look correct as soon as I took it out of the box. Also the barrels did not touch at muzzle and there was no keel's in place. The gun is marked 2 and 4 for the choke's. I got my bore gauge out,the right bore was .552 but the last inch at the muzzle it was .555 Now the left barrel it was .552 also but the last inch at the muzzle it measured .557 Someone did a job on this gun. This was a bad day for me. I sent it back to the seller. He still thinks the gun is factory and it is for sale again. So you Ithaca collectors remember this serial number. Walter can you help on this one. I think the barrels may have been 28in. and cut???

Looks like a torch job to me. Seller must be smoking weird stuff instead of Brindly's mixture. JM2CW. Chops

That's a real shame for that NID. Not many 28 gauges to begin with and some knucklehead hacks one up.

Looks like "original" Turnbull colors to my eye. I had this .410-bore Field Grade done by Doug years ago when the price was reasonable --

It left the old brick building on the hill with 26 inch barrels.

The colors look like an Ohio Case Color job. Def. redone. 28 bore NID's are tough to find. I've owned maybe 30-40 over the years since the 70's. See DGJ Winter 2000 for an article on NID 28's.
