I've nicknamed this maker "S-Man" and over the years I've seen about a half-dozen of his rifles. I have no clue where he worked or anything about him. Two or three of his rifles are engraved one for sure by Kornbrath. This rifle belongs to a forum member. Rifle No. 1

Number 3 is my favorite out of all the Springfield stocks you have shown the last few months. I'm keeping a file of pictures in case the boy ever decides to stock the action he has.Really nice piece of wood,if a bit dark. American or European walnut?

I've looked for one of these for some time and although I was not able to attended the Vegas show I was told I bought this one. Just saw the pictures today. It's at the gun doctor for some wood surgery to repair where some Neanderthal cut out the stock for a bent bolt. All the metal is the wrong date and hot blued, everything will be replaced. The stock is cut for a Lyman 48 and the holes in the receiver are for a Redfield. What a mess but with some careful work will again be a nice rifle. Rifle No. 5

Got a little carried away with the "S" thing, but super wood.
