NO it is not the gun on Gun's International. It was $6000.00 for this gun. All of my Ithaca's have keel's in them,I have seen some without keel's maby one or two over the year's. A gap in the barrels and no keel's is still a red flag. Thanks to Walt the original barrels are 26in. but some one still cut out all of the choke's and then some.

It looks too vivid, screaming blues, cobalt, actually. As a gun ages even though not used much, exposure to the elements tone down the colors. Just my 2CW. Chops

Interesting, I just looked at three NIDs and see no keels, if I am looking for what I am thinking is a keel. My experience is keels are seldom seen in Ithacas. Maybe I don't know what I am talking about. Wouldn't be the first time. Anyone got a photo of one?

What say we all get back on the same wavelength. Ithaca 16 says the gun he is asking about is NOT...NOT the gun on the Gunsinternational link. The GI gun has big bores, the Ithaca 16 gun does not.

By "keel", I understand the material at the muzzle that fills in the gaps where the barrels and ribs come together. I don't have an original Ithaca to look at close at hand, but Walt and Steve, are you saying that there are gaps under the top and bottom ribs at the muzzle? Walt, looking at the middle photo in your book, P. 317, that Flues appears to me to have keels, or what I think of as keels.

All of my Ithacas just seem to have solder filling the gaps, maybe it is thin steel? I'm not going prodding anyhow. I have yet to see a double with a gap between bbls that wasn't cut. Maybe they're out there but I haven't seen one yet.

True enough, Steve, but I've seen a lot of obviously cut barrels with no gap too. The original metal 'keels' may help indicate uncut barrels. However it is easy enough to simply put them back in or just fill with solder after a barrell cut...Geo
