Researcher all of my Remington 16ga. guns both 1894 and 1900 from 1898 to 1910 have the X stamped on them. I don't have any clue as to what the slash marks are for some have 2 marks(//) some have 3 (///) Slash marks are not the chokes. And the marks are not on 16ga guns. If slash marks had anything to do with the chokes, the marks would be on the 16ga. guns also??? The pellet count on the barrel lug is your choke markings on both 1894 and the model 1900.
