What .410 powder gives the lowest pressure?
I use Alliant 410 powder now, and I like it, but I was wondering if there is a powder that will give much lower pressure?

The .410 is not meant to work at "low" pressure. Just use a published load.

Winchester 296 has worked well for me. I've tried 2400 and Accurate's 4100. Found no reason to quit 296. Ditto what 8-bore said above.

I like Alliant 410 because it doesn't leak around my 9000G's bar. After that 296 and H110 worked fine for years.

Thanks to all responses.
I know the 410 works at higher pressures then most gauges, I just wanted the powder that produced the lowest of these high pressures.
I have a couple of older .410s that I use and I wanted something a little easier on them.

Pete,
The 410's total energy is pretty low. While the pressures may be fairly high, the guns are typically not scaled to strength required, but rather are much stronger than necessary...most of the time. Maybe you can post what types of guns you have and a better eval of your concerns might be forthcoming from the members.

My Nitro Specials are very strong considering the size/pressures/recoil of the 410. As such, I feel no concern shooting modern factory standard and 3" mag shells in one of them. My chambers had been elongated poorly to 2 1/2 or more. The cones were a mess, so I had a friend custom grind a long forcing cone reamer that fit the original chamber cuts and reamed them to 3" to clean them up. Wall thicknesses are very generous.

Chuck,
my guns are: .410 Iver Johnson Skeet-er, Nitro Special .410, Browning Lightning .410.
The Skeet-er's barrels look very thin compared with other .410s I've seen.

Pete,
If the Skeeter barrels are not refiled by someone, I would not be in the least concerned about that gun nor the other two. Just make sure the shells you are firing in that Nitro are appropriate length for the actual chamber length.
