I had poor dealings with proxibid auctions and cancelled. A gun I really wanted and won at a small southern auction was later credited to being sold to a live bidder, another from Martin in SF was sent with three obvious but undisclosed flaws making my purchase price way over value.
Very interesting rifles none the less...

I saw the third but didn't post it. How does the bidding process work? Does the live auction start at the current internet bid?

What are your thoughts on lot #2? Specifically, blow up the picture of the tang. It looks like, as Michael would say, an angry teenager got hold of it. Interesting nevertheless.

Art, it is almost as if each of the Many small houses runs the show the way they want. I've seen the bid start live, then go to online when pre-bid is reached. I've also seen start at pre-bid, also have heard on audio (my internet service is not quick enough to stream) bid run up to top of pre-bid with no one apparently bidding on-site, just numbers increasing online??? and as mentioned, have bid, been signaled "SDH YOU WON" then had it changed to on-site bidder won???

The first time went well but proxi represents literally scores of small auctions all over the country and seems to have little control over how they do business.

When I quit, I had a long... chat with proxi rep who apologized profusely but had no means to undo the local result. Also watch about shipping costs and packaging. Had a stock cracked on a cheap gun because of poor but expensive packaging. Imagine your local county fairgrounds auction going global, if it happened in Park Co. where I live, I'm sure it would be over the top for some of the local auction houses that deal in cash & carry!

But I was most pissed at Greg Martin who charged 17% premium and sent me a S&W with a hole drilled in the top strap!!! Oh, woops, they forgot to mention it???

Thanks for posting about the Harts AFTER the auction.

I do not like Proxi, they add about 5% over the auction houses. You can bid online for weeks before the auction and bid online live during the auction.

I found these rifles the day they were posted. An attempt to learn more information from the auction house was fruitless, they don't speak firearm.

The only way I could see this working was for a hands on inspection and or bidding. There were just too many unanswered question to bid blind.

I enlisted the help of the leading Hart Arms expert (forum member) who not only drove to the auction but bid for me and himself.

I was only interested in the "Folk-Art" rifle which I got.

You described it exactly the way I would have (or Antiques Roadshow) as Folk Art!

I'll be interested to hear how the transaction went, impossible to bid for this kind of thing online, unless $ really is of no importance.

A person we both correspond with tipped me off and I figured you may have been involved somehow and didn't want to spoil the fun.....I live about 3.5 hrs. from there and could have easily gone but being pecuniarily challenged didn't bother.
I thought they would go for far more---both of you got a great deal.

Do you know the scoop on the Rem. Model 11, other than it being defaced?

I'll look forward to learning more when you get it. I really like the full stocked one.

I think a lot of things about that rifle scared folks off. One friend said not worry I would be the only one bidding one it.

The rifle is not without problems, the bolt is binding, the buttplate screws are replaced with bad ones and the rifle was converted for a Hart trigger , now missing.

If you look beyond the pack-train walking down the barrel, no tell what on the floor-plate, Ivory and all the carving I still see a Harvey Rodgers rifle......Time will tell.

I don't know anything about the Model 11. Looks like it was worked over by Hart, other than that nothing.

I watched the auction live online and was thankful that I was not there, would have spent money I did not have.
