I first joined the ASSRA back in the '80s but after Charlie Dell left the Presidency the club kinda imploded with all the political jockeying. They still have a couple of splendid individuals who try to fight the good fight against the politics but there are also a couple of TRULY TOXIC individuals.

Joe you are right. But it seems as they have also recruited some more members who think like them selves.Or just want to kiss up. They just can't leave anything alone. I know some of the wheels are also members on here. and I would hope they might get some "Great" ideas on how a site. Can work. JMHO. Whitey

Just accessed the ASSRA site for the first time in several years and it didn't take me long to find the controversy. Same toxic individuals proposing the same type of EXclusive member-losing toxic moves that Charlie Dell fought against back in the '90s.
I WAS glad to see, however, that some of the members are recognizing just how pitiful their Journal has become after the loss of Rudi Prusok and John Campbell. The new (paid, BTW) editor is so incompetent that he's admitted that he doesn't even proofread his own work, much less the magazine copy!
Oh well, the world is full of 'special' people, or at least folks who THINK they are special. You can see some of their posts on the ASSRA site.
I would still belong if the editor hadn't started to inexplicably(!?!) 'lose' my article-submission copy.

Like Whitey Hanson and Mad Mike, I am also a member here and on the ASSRA Forum. There are guys who for whatever reason post things that irritate others, whilst perhaps some are of a more sensitive nature and are easily upset. It's not solely on the ASSRA Board but it happens here as well.
Most Forums have rules about 'Flaming' and being good mannered but control of these people lies with the moderators who may or may not do a good job.
I've made a good number of Email friends on both 'boards' and miss them when they leave, as their postings were frequently very interesting and informative. Fortunately most were already members both 'boards' so I still see them about.
Surely there's enough trouble in the world without us making more?

Harry, your points are well stated and worthy.
However I must add that the ONLY reason that this particular forum even EXISTS on this site is because of conflict with the ASSRA leadership. I, for one, find it difficult to wish well to folks who have spit in my face and I also find it difficult not to gloat a little when I see them shooting themselves in the foot so often.
Some of my dearest friends are ASSRA members but that doesn't (and shouldn't) prevent me from criticizing the organization.
However, in deference to you and others here, I'll refrain from any more unsolicited comments on the subject. I hope that the ASSRA is able to work out their (self-inflicted) problems.
