Where can I get a replacement buttstock for a Model 21 duck gun? This is a gun I talked about awhile back. What makes it unique is the buttstock was sawed off about 4 to 5 inches from the end and a replacement piece was doweled and glued to the end. The grain for the replacement piece runs vertically instead of the with the buttstock. This is a consignment gun and the price is around $2995. It is in pristine condition and has a ventilated rib. Depending on how much I get back from Uncle Sam in taxes I hope to buy it. I know it isn't a trap gun, but I have dreams of taking it to the trap club and seeing how many people would know what it is. My questions are: who do I go to get a finished buttstock for the gun in 12 gauge or (b) should I leave as is? I have noticed there are a couple of outfits that sell finished buttstocks in 16 and 20 gauge for the Model 21, but I didn't see anything in 12 gauge. Any ideas?

The on-line magazine "Sporting Shot" ran a series about restoring a 12 ga M21, and the stock came from Wenig. Might be expensive tho.

I've got a 20 gauge 21 stock. Nice shape - about 13 3/4". Close but no cigar

With Wenig or Show Me you have a better chance of getting a stock that looks original, if that's what you're looking for. Show Me may not be building complete finished stocks at this time.

Is the current LOP the correct length for you to shoot? Have you shot it for POI?
If the LOP and POI are OK, leave as is unless you want to find someone to do a better match for the replacement. There are also people who can do stock graining to do a better match with the replacement.
A Duck built for stock is choked FULL/FULL at 35 thousands constriction which is good for pass shooting or Trap. the LOP of a built for stock Duck was 13&5/8" to accommodate heavy clothing.
A VR 'Duck' in Pristine condition is usually worth in excess of $6K. Is it stamped 'Duck' on the floorplate and do you have a Cody letter signifying an original VR gun. There were after market VR's available and they do come loose in my experience.
Be very sure of the specs of this gun before purchasing. Good luck.-Dick
